Robert McGlashan is a lawyer and mediator. He is a partner at Blakeney Henneberry Murphy and Galligan. He practices family law, estate law and employment law as well as commercial litigation.
He is an experienced trial lawyer and advocate. His practice includes personal injury, motor vehicle accident litigation, occupiers liability, environmental matters, construction litigation, property damage, institutional defence, defence of professionals and estate litigation.
Robert works diligently to protect his clients’ interests and takes pride in aggressively finding cost effective and creative solutions to his clients litigation matters.
He also has served on the Board of the Canadian Defence Lawyers as well as the board of the Ontario Bar Association Insurance Law Section. Robert has also served as the editor of the Ontario Bar Association Insurance Law newsletter. Robert has organized and spoke at conferences concerning Occupiers liability and property damage. He also has spoken and presented papers dealing with Civil litigation issues, sports and recreation liability issues and the Insurance Act.
Robert completed his Bachelor of Science in Psychology (Honours) focusing on Animal Behaviour and Classical History at University of Toronto. He graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2006.
Because of his experience in these areas, Robert has frequently been retained to be a mediator in cases involving family law, estate law, employment law and personal injury.
He prides himself on his practical approach and tenacity and dedicated work ethic in preparing for these matters.
Robert is on the board of an environmental organization dedicated to cleaning up and protecting the Great Lakes. Robert is also an elite open water swimmer who has swam across Lake Titicaca, the Straits of Magellan, Bonifacio Channel, the Bay of Naples from Capri to Naples and swam over 25 hours across Lake Geneva from Switzerland to France.
